Join us for the celebration of our 30th anniversary at our concert, THE RAINBOW CONNECTION, on Saturday, June 15th at 8 PM in the Hochstein Performance Hall.

We will be joined by three other LGBTQ choruses: The Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus, The Ithaca Gay Men’s Chorus, and the Syracuse Gay & Lesbian Chorus, all of whom were inspired by the Rochester Gay Men’s Chorus to start their own groups!

THE RAINBOW CONNECTION is about pride and empowerment, about the struggles we have had to overcome and the victories our community has achieved in the past three decades.

We will honor those who came before us, and celebrate who we are today as we sing old favorites like “Michael’s Letter to Mama,” familiar tunes like “True Colors,” “Lean on Me,” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” and many other songs about Rainbows and what’s on the other side.

The Syracuse Gay & Lesbian Chorus makes an appearance in the upcoming Ron Marquisee film, ‘Impossible Choice’, starring our very own Jesse Navagh. The film’s world premiere is Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Palace Theater, 2384 James St. in Syracuse. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the film begins at 6:30pm.

“For the minister’s son, Brandon, this is a summer of awakening … and acceptance of his homosexuality. For his father, this is a challenge to his roots in the bible as he interprets its posture on sexuality. This ultimately drives him to “save” his son by killing his lover, Logan. In a broader exploration of “acceptance”, a play-within-the-film recalls two landmark tragedies in the history of gay culture: the murder of Matthew Shepard, and the suicide of Tyler Clementi. An intertwined story traces an Erie Canal cruise operator’s challenges in starting a “gay” cruise in presumed conservative Upstate New York. The message, “Accept What You Can’t Change,” is directed to non-gay individuals who need to better understand the reality of homosexuality; and to gay individuals who need to absolve themselves from the notion that being gay is somehow wrong and shameful.”

The film is not rated and contains mature subject matter, strong language and brief nudity. Following the film, there will be a short question and answer session then followed with desert and beverages. Tickets are $20. For more information and the theatrical trailer, go to the films official website:
